Arguably the most important aspect of your online store is its design. This means logo, color scheme, layout, load time and positioning relative to your competitors. If you think of sites like Amazon, Zappos, Target, BestBuy and TigerDirect, I’m sure you can recall at least some aspects of their design. They all have beautiful and most important functional designs that aid with the shopping process (and don’t take away from it).

In this video I share six tips to help you design a beautiful online store which will attract customers and increase your conversion rate. If you’re not a designer but are thinking about hiring an ecommerce website designer then this video will help you make the decision.

Mitch, good stuff! Two points you made really hit home with me… I taught myself web-design (and everything else) from day one and was really proud of what I was able to do… however – we have reached a point where we are needing to continue to expand and I am now ready to look for assistance in that expansion of web design, because as you said, you have to know what you are capable of and I think it’s a big deal when an entrepreneur is ready to hand over their ‘baby’ to someone else. I also want to thank you for these web tutorials. Their simple in the message and get the point across quickly. Nice. I also am looking at switching over to Interspire for the credit card processing… I had no idea your rates were so good until your video tutorial! The one thing PayPal offers that I hope Interspire (BIGCommerce) can surpass is the ability to directly print USPS Priority Mail shipping labels in conjunction from the order. This is a huge convenience that so far I haven’t found a way to do with BigCommerce. Maybe the next Big Expansion for Good?! Thanks Mitch, and thanks BigCommerce. I’m so proud of you all. Sincerely, Carmel

Thanks for the kind words Carmel – glad I could help. In terms of printing labels we’re releasing integration with Shipworks very soon as part of version 6 so that should take care of it for you?

Hey Drew. Not sure what’s happened to that video. We didn’t delete it. Seems like the video gods have taken it down.
