I really like your idea of defining a specific person for who we write each post.

However, I have a question: Do you recommend having a main target person for your entire blog. Ex: The blog is for “Busy Entrepreneurs”?

Also, is it possible to create a blog for different person? Ex: “Busy professionnals”, “Busy entrepreneurs” and “Busy pastors”?

Thanks for your return on that!

Great work. I suspect most do not what they are talking about…you do.

I live in Paris and just started a food blog two months ago. I’ve realized that I have fallen into the subject-focused theme of just writing about anything food-related in Paris, definitely a niche subject, when I need to define my target audience and help solve problems for those people. I’ve definitely been going about it wrong, and I think I’ve narrowed my potential audience by focusing on people who want to know about food-related things in Paris rather than finding a slightly broader audience that is interested in planning a trip to Paris, including finding places to eat well, but who could also just be interested in travel planning in general. I thought that finding a niche subject was better than competing on such a broad scale, but this makes me think differently. Looks like you wrote this a while ago, but I’m glad I came across it. Makes a ton of sense. Thank you.

Although I came looking for the how to define your target audience. I think the why of doing it is just as or even more important. It drives you to do it and once you understand why it is that much more important you will strive to do so.

Any suggestions for a self improvement/motivational/inspiring blog? The people I want to reach are people who are like I once was. Persons who have the potential to be great and do phenomenal things to change the world in which they live, but need some fire lit under them to get them moving.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
