We have a eCommerce(sports products) client at Radon Media who made Sign Up mandatory to purchase products from their online store. We suggested them not to mandate customers to sign up/login to make purchase and observed that the conversion rate has gone up by 0.25%. So yes, letting the customers checkout out without login/signup helps increase conversion rate as some customers prefer buying products without signing up .
