Global Sales Operations Technology Manager

BigCommerce, named a "Best Place to Work" in Austin in 2017, is looking for an experienced Global Sales Operations Technology Manager.  The Global Sales Operations Technology Manager, a key leader on the Sales Operations team, is responsible for developing and executing strategy for sales applications (tools) and related processes at BigCommerce.  You will work closely with Sales leadership, other members of the Sales Operations team, and key internal partners including Marketing, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Business Intelligence (BI), and Business Applications. Your technical insights and experience will be key to the performance of our Sales organization as we look to rapidly accelerate our growth, sales productivity and, most importantly, the growth and success of our Merchants.

What You’ll Do

Recommend, Implement, & Maintain Sales Applications

  • Support leadership and sales professionals by acting as a technical leader and advisor, driving operational improvement and innovation through tools that automate and improve sales processes and productivity
  • Create vision and action plan for future sales applications states, partnering closely with the Sales Operations Manager to support growth and scaling of the Sales team
  • Research, recommend, plan, implement, lead, execute, operationalize, report and maintain applications that support the BigCommerce sales processes
  • Ensure successful integrations with other key business systems, collaborating across a broad set of teams and tools (i.e. BMP, Marketo, Financial, BI tools, etc.)
  • Draw on an intricate knowledge of Sales productivity tools/applications to recommend and implement continuous improvement as well as strategic initiatives to implement or improve our sales applications, use cases, processes, reporting, and maintenance
  • Leverage strong communication and relationship skills to effectively collaborate across teams
  • Implement and support the Sales application environment for new and existing international offices

Measure and Improve Productivity

  • Develop technical solutions, processes, and reporting to measure productivity and utilization
  • Offer timely tactical and strategic applications and process optimization recommendations, with the primary goal of improving efficiency and effectiveness within Sales, improving sales productivity (LTV/CAC), and driving simplification and reporting/transparency
  • Build and maintain reports and dashboards that provide leaders and sales professionals with the data they need to create accurate forecasts and measure success
  • Consult with sales professionals to understand their pain points and develop technical solutions that reduce friction and allow them to sell more
  • Work with partners within and across teams to create business requirements and business cases
  • Partner with the Learning & Development team and Sales Trainer to develop and deliver training for new and existing applications, for new and existing reps, acting as primary trainer for technical components
  • Contribute to Enterprise, Small Business, Sales Development, and Lead Flow/Routing processes design and documentation initiatives for training and analysis and improvement purposes
  • Own application implementation and related process improvement initiatives from start to finish - including requirements gathering, planning, design, integration, implementation, training, reporting, operationalization, monitoring, and maintenance

Serve as a Role Model and People Leader

  • Be an expert knowledge source for technical and strategic questions related to sales applications and related processes
  • Lead, inspire, manage, and mentor junior team members to maximize their individual potential and professional growth as well as ability to function effectively as a team
  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the sales applications team to ensure effectiveness, efficiency and scalability including building reporting and managing team metrics
  • Build a culture of accountability and crossing the finish line
  • Cultivate an environment of teamwork, openness, creativity, and continuous improvement
  • Support and assist the broader team with all aspects of the Sales Operations

Who You Are

  • Information Systems Professional
    • 3+ years experience working in Sales Operations, including at least 2 years’ experience as a people leader or mid-level individual contributor
    • 5+ years experience as a systems analyst, Salesforce admin, or sales applications or operations professional, preferably at a $50M+ SaaS, eCommerce or other subscription based company
    • Degree in Information Systems / Technologies or related field from a four-year college or university strongly preferred
    • Demonstrated success with end-to-end process design, rollout, and project management
    • Extensive knowledge and experience implementing Sales productivity and Sales Operations applications such as Salesforce, Outreach and Marketo
    • Familiarity with eCommerce a HUGE plus
    • Working knowledge of sales methodologies and solution selling a plus
    • Proven record using technology to drive sales productivity, hyper growth and profitability in a dynamic organization

  • Process and Project Manager - You can readily design practices, processes, and procedures, know what to measure and how to measure it, can organize people and activities, and are good at figuring out the processes necessary to get things done. Lean/Agile experience and JIRA is a plus
  • Data Driven Decision Maker - You are an organized, data-driven, and detail- and goal-oriented believer in building great systems and process, have strong business acumen, prioritize effectively, consistently make good decisions, and creatively solve complex problems. Advanced Excel and data analysis skills required
