Carolina Panthers Launch BigCommerce Site, See Immediate Conversion Boost

The 2015 NFC Champs redesigned their ecommerce store on BigCommerce — and immediately noticed the impact

Redesigning to hit an 83% increase in mobile conversion

When the Carolina Panthers wanted to elevate their ecommerce experience for the 2016 NFL season, they enlisted the help of their official retail provider Delaware North Sportservice. Delaware North, in turn, looked to BigCommerce partner EYStudios for the agency’s branding and usability expertise.

One particular focus of the Panthers was to improve the mobile shopping experience.

As such, when EYStudios designed the site, they not only looked at the desktop experience, but focused equally on the tablet and mobile shopping experience to be sure that customers would be able to navigate the site, find items, and checkout with ease –– no matter where they were shopping.

Since the site has gone live, the Panthers mobile conversion rate, has increased 83%, with overall conversion rate growing by 37%.

Flexible, modern, scalable technology made BigCommerce a winning choice

Delaware North and EYStudios utilized BigCommerce to take advantage of the key features of the platform, one of which was its cloud-based architecture. This would allow the site to handle a higher volume of transactions during certain periods –– like the playoffs or the holidays.

BigCommerce also won out over other ecommerce platforms for their faster page load time, streamlined checkout, and responsive design.

“From a design standpoint, our goal was to develop a site that served as an extension of the already strong Carolina Panthers brand,” said Sean Callihan, Director of Business Development at EYStudios. “By leveraging the key features of the BigCommerce platform, our custom design was not only able to appropriately represent the brand, but we were also able to deliver a shopping experience that is on par with the one that fans receive at the game.”

Additionally, moving to the BigCommerce platform has allowed the Panthers to become a Google Trusted Store, and utilize their review tool. Those customer reviews reflect that next level shopping experience that EY and BigCommerce were striving for:
