Russell Klein

Chief Commercial Officer

Russell is the Chief Commercial Officer of BigCommerce. He brings more than 20 years of management experience spanning M&A, investments, joint ventures, business and corporate development.

Among his accomplishments at BigCommerce, Russell has played a key role in the company’s dramatic expansion of its Partner and Services Revenue (PSR), while also tapping the third-party ecosystem to become a potent source of new inbound merchant leads. 

Additionally, Russell has been instrumental in architecting BigCommerce’s omnichannel strategy through the development of strategic partnerships with iconic brands, including Amazon, eBay, Facebook, Google and Square, while also growing the company’s ecosystem to well over 600 partners through the creation of strategic relationships with industry leaders across payments, shipping, marketplaces, CMS and more. 

Alongside the company’s CEO and CFO, Russell also spearheaded the two venture rounds conducted during his tenure, raising $100M from leading investors including GGV Capital, Goldman Sachs, and Samsung Ventures.

Prior to joining BigCommerce, Russell held multiple executive positions, including Co-Founder and CEO of SendMe, Co-Founder and Chairman of Librify and Executive Vice President of CNET Networks. Earlier in his career, he was also an Entrepreneur in Residence with General Catalyst Partners, BigCommerce’s first venture investor. 

Russell holds a BA in Economics and a minor in East Asian Studies from University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated summa cum laude. He also earned his MBA in Business and Finance from Harvard Business School. He currently lives in San Francisco, California with his two teenage children, one of whom is already building a small retail empire using BigCommerce software to power his own storefront.
