Last year, we announced the release of Fastlane by PayPal for merchants and shoppers in the United States. This accelerated checkout method is supported in the Braintree and PayPal payment gateways, and it provides shoppers with a streamlined, passwordless checkout experience using their securely saved credentials in as little as one click.
Starting in the week of September 29, 2025, Fastlane by PayPal will be available for stores based in the United Kingdom. In the coming weeks, stores in Australia will also support Fastlane.
Enhancing your checkout experience
Fastlane by PayPal improves your checkout flow by giving guest shoppers the means to skip multiple steps without requiring a storefront account.
Shoppers begin by creating a payment profile from any Fastlane-enabled business. Once they have a Fastlane profile, they only need to verify via mobile code on future orders to autofill their details, allowing them to complete checkout with a single click.
This quick and simple checkout experience can increase conversions and foster loyalty from customers who want to use a familiar payment method instead of creating an account and saving their credit card details.
Adding Fastlane by PayPal to your store
If your store meets Fastlane’s requirements and you are connecting to the PayPal gateway for the first time, Fastlane by PayPal is automatically added to your checkout page. If you are using Braintree, you will need to enable Fastlane on your Braintree merchant account first.
To enable Fastlane, navigate to your gateway’s settings tab in Settings › Payments and check the box next to Enable Fastlane by PayPal. From here, you can configure Fastlane’s appearance and shipping method selection by using your gateway’s settings.
