Bigcommerce and PayPal Collaborate to Introduce Seamless Payment Processing for Small and Mid-sized Retailers
SAN FRANCISCO — May 21, 2015 — This morning at PayPal’s Commerce: Rewired event, Bigcommerce announced it has teamed up with Braintree and PayPal to offer an end-to-end ecommerce solution that makes it even easier to launch and grow an online store. As part of the collaboration, Bigcommerce merchants will also get access to PayPal’s One Touch for web and mobile, enabling shoppers to pay across more than 90,000 online stores in a single touch, without needing to enter user IDs or passwords after their first login. The newly-released payment option will be made available to all Bigcommerce merchants in the United States in the coming weeks, with international rollout expected later this year.
The joint integration gives Bigcommerce merchants one of the most seamless ways to access the broad capabilities of PayPal and Braintree. The integration connects Bigcommerce’s ecommerce platform with a comprehensive suite of payment services and tools from PayPal, including support for digital wallet payments both online and on mobile, consolidated business management tools and automated fraud protections. Additionally, merchants using One Touch for web and mobile will benefit from expedited transfers on sales through their online stores, a potential increase in conversions and average order values, as well as early access to all new payment methods supported by PayPal, across all devices, through a single integration.
“PayPal takes a partner-based approach to payments to help merchants and consumers connect more easily,” said Bill Ready, SVP of Global Merchant and NextGen Commerce at PayPal. “We’re excited to team-up with Bigcommerce to offer an end-to-end ecommerce solution that makes it easier than ever for their merchants to launch and grow their businesses. Together, we are giving merchants everything they need to open an online store in just minutes rather than weeks -- all bundled into a single integration.”
Selecting a payment provider is of the utmost importance for new online merchants as they work to attract and secure customers in the increasingly competitive online retail industry. According to a Baymard Institute study, 69% of all online shopping carts are abandoned, with one in five resulting from a lack of confidence in the merchant’s ability to handle credit card and other sensitive information. Today, more than 165 million customers around the globe trust PayPal with their finances and payment information, and by using One Touch for web, Bigcommerce merchants will benefit from business-accelerating features, including:
- Built-in payment processing with support for all major credit and debit cards plus PayPal Express Checkout. Built-in payment processing allows business owners to start selling immediately, greatly simplifying the process of creating merchant services accounts. Additionally, an easy setup process helps merchants to quickly accept payments via PayPal Express Checkout, proven to help increase sales, and with One Touch it has the potential to help increase conversions by double-digits. Bigcommerce sites accepting PayPal average two times more spend per customer while processing 80% more orders each month. 1
- Mobile-ready payments. Bigcommerce’s responsive themes and PayPal’s mobile-ready payment solutions enable merchants to capture sales across all customer devices, with no additional coding required.
- Straightforward pricing and expert support. Through PayPal’s flexible flat-rate and volume-based pricing and dedicated, 24/7 support, business owners can run their business and process payments with peace of mind.
- Automated support for new payment methods. Built on the latest payment technology from Braintree, a PayPal Company, the integration enables merchants to adapt seamlessly to evolving payments trends, innovations and customer preferences without the need for additional integrations.
“This collaboration reflects our shared vision to deliver seamless experiences that help merchants grow their businesses and sell more,” said Eddie Machaalani, co-founder and CEO for Bigcommerce. “What PayPal has delivered through One Touch for the web is a future-proof payments solution that will enable our merchants to stay at the forefront of innovation while streamlining the day-to-day management of their businesses.”
