The PlayBetter success story
In 2007, Baltimore-based PlayBetter partnered with a well-known golf professional to begin selling instructional videos, DVDs, training aids, and other media. Due to its success, the company subsequently expanded to offering a full line of golf and fitness gear.

An ecommerce platform for the long haul

Our previous platform, ProStores, wasn’t able to provide us the features and functionality we needed in order to grow.
After researching alternatives, I put together a shortlist which included Shopify and Magento, in addition to BigCommerce.
Shopify seemed like it was designed for brands with smaller product catalogs, and I found Magento to be a little intimidating and better suited for a company with a team of developers. Ultimately, I felt BigCommerce was a perfect blend of the two, providing a lot of built-in features and the opportunity to scale with a larger catalog.
