BIGTeam Spotlight: Vincent Coutin

Although Vincent Coutin relishes the innovation of the tech industry, you may be surprised to find not that long ago he had a completely different career. Read on to learn about his journey.

How did you get into the ecommerce industry?

Vincent Coutin: “I joined HiPay (French Payment Service Provider) in 2020 for the position of Channel Manager, managing both SI and tech partners.”

What makes BigCommerce a great place to work?

VC: “It’s great for freedom of action, strong trust of the management and the means of its ambitions. And on a day-to-day level, it’s great to work for a very partner-centric solution which allows a natural engagement from the best-of-breed partners.”

What’s the most fulfilling aspect of your role?

VC: “In one day, I can have discussions about Product Information Management (PIM), Order Management Systems (OMS), payments, headless and merchandising with my partners. For [someone] very curious with a thirst for knowledge, like myself, it’s a paradise!”

What are your passions outside of work?

VC: “I used to be a professional basketball player from 2006 to 2016, so easy guess.”

What do you shop for most online?

VC: “Baby clothes and toys right now.”

If you had an online store, what would you sell?

VC: “Delivery breakfasts.”

What do you find most fascinating about ecommerce?

VC: “It never stops innovating. It’s always in motion, creating new solutions, scenarios and challenges.”

Where do you see the future of ecommerce?

VC: “I will answer that question indirectly. Common thinking is to take ecommerce as granted and daily habits, but when you watch the actual GMV numbers offline vs. online, you realize ecommerce has very good days ahead, massive room to improve and get better.”
