Open for Business: A New Webinar Series for Merchants Ready to Grow

Shopping for an ecommerce platform can feel a little overwhelming.

Every website promises to be the fastest, smartest or easiest to use. Every demo looks polished. And after a while, it becomes hard to picture what actually running your business on a platform would look like.

That's where Open for Business comes in.

Hosted by our very own BigCommerce Solutions Engineers, this live webinar series is designed to pull back the curtain on the platform. In just 45 minutes, you'll see how BigCommerce works from the customer's perspective and behind the scenes, explore the tools merchants use every day and get the chance to ask questions live.

“Whether you're evaluating BigCommerce for the first time, comparing platforms, or already a customer looking to see what's new, you'll leave with a clear picture of what's possible and what it takes to get there.”

— Brandon Holloway, Solutions Engineer & Host of Open for Business, Commerce

What makes these webinars different?

Unlike a traditional sales demo, Open for Business isn't built around one company's products business needs. Instead, it's designed to give every attendee a practical, high-level tour of the platform so you can better understand how the pieces fit together.

In every session, you'll dive into topics like:

“This isn't a personalized demo built around a specific business or industry. It's a broad tour of the platform that helps merchants understand the core capabilities of BigCommerce and how they work together.”

— Brandon Holloway, Solutions Engineer & Host of Open for Business, Commerce

As Holloway pointed out, every session is designed to leave you with ideas you can put to work.

A look back at our recent webinar

The recent Open for Business session from June 23 gave attendees a live tour of the BigCommerce platform and a closer look at the tools merchants use to launch, manage, and grow their businesses. Feeling fomo? Don’t worry, we’ve included a high level summary below, or you can watch it yourself on demand.

The webinar started with an introduction to BigCommerce's Open SaaS approach — combining the simplicity merchants want with the flexibility to connect the tools they already rely on through open APIs. It also highlighted how the platform supports B2C, B2B and hybrid business models without forcing merchants into separate solutions.

From there, the team dove into a live walkthrough of the platform.

Building a storefront that's ready to sell.

Attendees saw how easy it is to launch a professional storefront using customizable themes and the drag-and-drop Page Builder. The demo also showcased Multi-Storefront functionality, making it possible to manage multiple branded storefronts from one control panel.

Managing products without the headaches.

From product variants to customer groups, the session covered the native tools that help merchants stay organized as their catalogs and customer bases grow. The attendees were able to see that whether they’re selling one product or thousands, the platform is built to scale alongside their business.

Marketing tools that come built in.

The team demonstrated built-in promotions, abandoned cart recovery, email integrations and AI-assisted product copy — showing attendees that many of the marketing features they need are already part of the platform, not extra add-ons.

Integrations when you need them.

BigCommerce's app marketplace also got its moment in the spotlight, highlighting how merchants can connect accounting, shipping, payments and hundreds of other business tools in just a few clicks.

Fulfillment made simpler.

The walkthrough wrapped up with shipping and fulfillment tools, including split shipments and integrations with solutions like ShipStation to help merchants keep orders moving as they grow.

The conversation didn't stop with the demo

One of the best parts of every Open for Business session happens after the walkthrough.

Each webinar ends with a live Q&A where attendees can ask about their own businesses, tech stacks or ecommerce challenges. During the June session, questions ranged from AI capabilities and integrations to product management and platform flexibility. This gave every attendee the chance to learn from real-world scenarios, not just the presentation.
